NOTAS DEL CIELO
A Lyrical Coming-of-Age Drama
Production-Ready Screenplay – Seeking Buyer or Partner
Set in San Antonio, Texas, and written primarily in Spanish, *Notas del Cielo* is a lyrical coming-of-age drama that blends magical realism, cultural heritage, and music. It follows a gifted young mariachi violinist who, despite facing bullying, poverty, and the shadows of family trauma, discovers an otherworldly instrument that guides him toward a legacy far greater than his own.
This screenplay was crafted to preserve the authenticity of Mexican-American culture while reaching universal audiences through music, silence, and soul. Though the dialogue is in Spanish, the story is emotionally accessible across languages—select scenes feature English subtitle cues to support non-Spanish-speaking readers without compromising the story’s integrity.
In addition to writing the screenplay and lyrics, I also developed the musical structure and thematic motifs, which significantly contribute to the emotional journey of the story. The story is profoundly personal and represents my commitment to elevating underrepresented voices, primarily through faith, culture, and artistry. - Manuel A, Cantu
